Golfing with Kiwis
New Zealand is blessed with one of the highest concentration of quality golf courses in the South Pacific. With a history of British, Irish and Scottish settlers, it is no wonder we take golfing very seriously. And when you combine gorgeous golf courses with incredible scenery, superb food and wine and great accommodation, and some unique events from jet boating to watching icebergs in a world heritage park, we know we have a winning combination! Our first golfing itinerary focuses on the South Island of New Zealand only. We feel the island has the most impressive landscape and will allow golfers and their partners the best combination of golfing and relaxation in a short amount of distance. Our 9 day itinerary takes you directly to the country's most spectacular resort, Queenstown, where you will play in two of the country's best golf courses, Millbrook and Jack's Point, we then drive through some of New Zealand's most stunning landscape along the Southern Alps and spend a few nights playing the gorgeous Terrace Downs golf course in the middle of the island. From Terrace Downs, it is only a 90 minutes drive to Christchurch, the biggest city on the South Island's east coast, where the PGA championship course at Clearwater Golf & Country Resort awaits you for a perfect end to a dream golfing holiday.
Based on a group of 8-12 people, the trips is estimated at $US 4200 pp. Non golfing partners are $450 extra pp. The costs includes domestic flights, transfers from Queenstown to Christchurch by luxury coach, accommodation (twin share) in five star resorts, all meals as indicated, four sessions of 18 hole golfing with cart (twin share), special events, activities and taxes.
Please note the cost of the trip has been calculated for a large group on board a luxury coach. The same itinerary can easily be done by rental car privately and the cost will be modified accordingly. Please contact us directly and we will be able to assist you immediately.
This is the perfect antidote for a long flight, your first stop is 3 nights, one can actually unpack and get in tune with New Zealand time and relax. Your first 3 nights are spent at the gorgeous Millbrook Resort, one of the best golf resorts in the country. Your villas oversee the fairways and the hotel includes a great spa, several restaurants, tennis courts and has a shuttle to town several times a day. Your domestic flight to Queenstown and transfer to the resort are looked after and the rest of the day is at your leisure.
The second day is spent golfing at Millbrook the whole day, transfers to nearby Arrowtown and Queenstown will be available and a dinner is planned at one of the resort's best restaurants.
Your final day sees you playing at the superb Jack's Point golf course. Non-golfing partners will enjoy a visit to some of the best vineyards and art galleries in the area along with a four wheel drive excursion in the backcountry for some stunning scenery.
This morning we leave Queenstown by coach for the small lakeshore community of Lake Tekapo. The drive is one of the most beautiful in New Zealand and will take four hours through vineyards, alpine passes and farmland along the emerald green glacier fed lakes in Mt Cook National Park. A one-hour scenic flight has been planned so you can enjoy magnificent scenery with snow peaks, glaciers and the west coast rainforest followed by a boat trip on lake filled with floating icebergs of all sizes. Our stay tonight is at Peppers Bluewater hotel and your one-bedroom villas afford you some great views over the lake.
We have a leisurely morning at Lake Tekapo, there is a great walk along the lake front, some of the best wool shops (you are in Merino farming country) and some may also be interested in visiting a salmon farm nearby. We head out to the golf resort of Terrace Downs, a short one-hour drive and our arrival is timed for a mid afternoon walk on the resort property. Tonight's dinner is in the main dining room. Your Terrace Villa suites are fully equipped with kitchen, laundry and living rooms with balconies so you can enjoy incomparable views across the beautifully manicured golf course and the Southern Alps in the distance.
The following day is spent golfing at Terrace Downs, your lunch and dinner is on site like yesterday. A program of activities is planned for non-golfers including horse back riding and a visit to the nearby Mt Hutt township.
Our departure this morning includes a stop along the Rakaia where we will introduce you to jet boating along the river through canyons and great farmland countryside. We then drive to Christchurch (90 minutes) where we have lunch at the Art Gallery, followed by some free time in the boutique district. While you explore the inner city with it's river and gardens, your luggage will be transferred directly to the Clearwater Golf resort waiting for you in your Lakefront Suite. Spread over two levels, the suites include a kitchen, separate bedroom and living room plus laundry facilities. We transfer you to the resort late afternoon so you can check in and also discuss your requirements at the pro-shop.
The following day is left open for golfing at the superb NZ PGA championship course at Clearwater. Today, lunch and dinner are left open, you may want to eat at the resort or go in town and try one of the many cafés and great restaurants. A series of options will be available in town from museum tours to guided city walks and botanical gardens.
Your final day is one of options again, some may want to play golf one last time and for those who want to discover a little bit more of what New Zealand is all about, we have a fun day planned where we will transfer over the Port Hills to Bank Peninsula and Akaroa Harbour where we have booked a morning boat trip around the harbour to look at the world's rarest dolphin, followed by lunch at a waterfront café and an afternoon farm tour with sheep, sheep dogs and a sheering experience. We return late afternoon at the resort and a farewell dinner in one of the city's best restaurants.
We check out from Clearwater Resort at your leisure and transfer to the airport is included. We can provide domestic airfares back to Auckland (at extra cost) or other domestic destinations upon request.
